This workshop is another exchange and cooperation between Chongqing and the SCO countries in the field of poverty reduction, following the successful holding of the first workshop in Chongqing on poverty reduction and development in the SCO countries in June 2022.
China Zohir Saidzoda, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Government Li Mingquan and Deputy Director of Chongqing Rural Revitalisation Bureau Wang Shijie delivered speeches at the opening ceremony, while Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Southwest University An Chunyuan presided over the opening ceremony.
Ambassador Ji Shumin said that the eradication of poverty has been a major issue in the governance of the country since ancient times and is a common ideal for all mankind. The Communist Party of China and the Chinese government have always made it their goal to make people's lives better, and have made long and arduous efforts to this end. The Chinese people have blazed a successful Chinese-style path to poverty alleviation, nurtured an anti-poverty theory with Chinese characteristics, and made significant contributions to the cause of global poverty reduction. Deputy Director Li Mingquan stressed in his speech that Tajikistan is an important country along the "Belt and Road" and Chongqing has always attached importance to exchanges and cooperation with Tajikistan. This workshop is also a practical move to deepen the friendship and cooperation between Chongqing and Tajikistan within the framework of the SCO. We hope that the experience accumulated in Chongqing through practice will provide new ideas and references for the development of poverty reduction and economic and social construction in Tajikistan.
The workshop course continues to be hosted by Southwest University and is divided into three sessions, including special lectures, case studies and exchange seminars. Participants will be trained for a period of 10 days through a remote synchronous online format. The workshop will focus on Chongqing's experience in poverty alleviation, China's theoretical system of precise poverty alleviation assessment and its practical application, modern agricultural transformation and upgrading in a global perspective, and the evolution of China's social security policy for poverty reduction and its inspiration, etc. The workshop will set up 12 thematic courses to introduce participants to China's experience in poverty alleviation. The aim is to achieve common development through mutual learning and learning, and to contribute to the building of a stable, united and prosperous SCO community of destiny.
